The Danvers Get in Shape for Women is supporting the second annual Lynda J. Talbot Memorial 5K Run/Walk by manning a water stop during the race, which takes place Sunday, Oct. 21, at the Danvers YMCA, 34 Pickering St., at 9 a.m. The run/walk honors Lynda Talbot, a Danvers resident for more than 60 years who died in August 2010 after a 23-year battle with breast cancer. Proceeds of the $30 registration fee ($20 for children under 18) go toward the Lynda J. Talbot Memorial Scholarship and to breast cancer research. The Danvers Get in Shape for Women is also donating $100 to the fund for every new client that joins in October. Register in advance or on the day of the event. Lorraine Roy Design Collections and Friends present Illusions, a magical fashion event to help make breast cancer disappear, Thursday, Nov. 1, at 6 p.m. at the Danversport Yacht Club. Barbells for Boobs, a nationwide fundraising event to benefit Mammograms in Action and breast cancer awareness, has been rescheduled to Saturday, Nov. 17, at Be Fit Health and Wellness, 128 Park St., Building B, Beverly. Hair Crafters of Ipswich hosts Streak for the Cure throughout the month of October. A breast cancer awareness fundraiser for Tina McCarthy, a breast cancer survivor raising money for the American Cancer Society?s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk, will be held Saturday, Oct. 20, from noon to 4 p.m. at the Peabody Elks, 40 Oak St. The event will feature raffles, a cash bar, manicures, costume jewelry for sale and other vendors.

A charity yard sale to mark breast cancer awareness will take place Sunday, Oct. 21, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. (rain date Sunday, Oct. 28) at 7 Longwood Ave., Peabody. One hundred percent of all money collected will be donated to breast cancer awareness, and all unsold items will be donated to The Salvation Army. Donated items to sell are still being accepted. Zumba instructor Danielle Roberts will host a Party in Pink Zumbathon at Roller World, Route 1, Saugus, Sunday, Oct. 28. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.; Zumbathon takes place from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Event features a 90-minute Zumba class and raffles. Participants encouraged to wear pink. North Shore Technical High School is focusing its Spirit Week activities along with its Homecoming games and breakfast on breast cancer awareness again this year. This week, students from all classes are competing with spirit activities, including Pride Walls, Teacher-Student Costume Contests and other activities that will culminate in a Bulldog Pride Assembly on Friday afternoon. Saturday morning, the athletic and culinary departments will host a breakfast from 8 to 10:30 a.m.; the $5 ticket will be donated to breast cancer research. In addition, there will be a powder puff flag football game between the junior and senior girls followed by an alumni flag football game between North Shore Tech?s varsity team and alumni who played for North Shore Tech. At 1:30 p.m., the Homecoming Game will match up North Shore Tech Bulldogs against Mystic Valley. Proceeds from these events will also be donated in support of breast cancer awareness.
